There were over 180 competitions representing more than 20 nations. There were a number of competitors from the world cup teams ensuring a high quality field in both the mens and women’s events

Shache dinosaur slots Charlotte Bankes coming back from injury and in her first competitive event for a year secured first place on the Saturday and 8th on Sunday.
Thomas Bankes gained a top 16 place on the Saturday before being taken out in the quarter finals and William Bankes secured a top 10 position on the Sunday.

Brothers to compete for Great Britain and France at the Snowboard World Championships in January 2011
Two brothers, Thomas Bankes (20) and William Bankes (18) will be competing in the snowboard cross event at the Snowboard World Championships to be held at La Molina, Spain on 17 -18 January 2011. Both of them belong to the Les Ecrins Snowboard Club in France. It will be a case of Great Britain v France as they are competing for different countries. Thomas Bankes is a member of the British Snowboard team and will be the sole representative for Great Britain in the men’s snowboard cross event at the World Championship. Tom is the current British snowboard cross champion and came 22nd in the Junior World Championships held in New Zealand in August 2010. This season he has been in the top 25 in two international events..
His brother, William Bankes has dual French and English nationality and races for France. In 2010 he was the overall winner of the Coupe de France boarder cross events. In the 2010/11 winter season he came 15th in a LG World Cup event and has won a Europa Cup event. William will be competing for France alongside Pierre Vaultier, the current LG World Cup snowboard cross champion and leader, who is also a member of Les Ecrins Snowboard Club.
Their younger sister Charlotte (15) is too young to be going to this year’s world championship but has already posted some great results. She is current French champion for her age group and this year she has already posted a 2nd and 4th in two of her first Coupe d’Europe events.
